Ilay overview

The Challenge

Tea farmers often face difficulties in staying updated about farming guidelines, market trends, and payments from their respective societies. Information is usually distributed manually or delayed, which affects productivity, planning, and income tracking.

Project Process & Timeline

Week 1-2 Field Audits & User Scopes

Researched tea farming workflow patterns in rural regions and sketched simple offline sync mobile cards.

Week 3 App Layouts & Billing Flows

Designed intuitive harvest cards, visual daily billing panels, and farming updates dashboard panels.

Week 4 Focus Group Audits & Handover

Tested interactions with growers, added multi-language switch features, and packaged assets.

Understanding User Insights

I gathered qualitative feedback and analyzed standard workflow bottlenecks to establish clear visual milestones before designing structural interfaces.

Designing the System

Ilay is a digital platform that connects tea farmers with their defined societies. The app allows societies to send updates, notifications, and market information directly to registered farmers. It also helps farmers record harvest data, monitor crop conditions, and analyze productivity. Through a simple and accessible interface, Ilay ensures farmers receive real-time insights and transparent communication with their societies.

Overcoming Obstacles & Prototyping

Creating an interface for farmers with limited digital literacy and varying language preferences was a major challenge. Additionally, maintaining accessibility in areas with poor internet connectivity required offline data sync and lightweight performance optimization.
